Mark Cunliffe

Mark Cunliffe has been profoundly deaf since the age of 6. He attended the Mary Hare Grammar school for deaf people and was involved in the deaf community in the North West of England before moving to Cornwall. He is an experienced Deaf and Disability Awareness trainer and has fluent Sign Language skills being qualified to stage III BSL.
Mark’s employment background is varied, ranging from working in hotels as a front of House Manager to being employed by the RNID as a Social Worker. For the last 9 years Mark has been an Outreach Coordinator at the National Telephone Relay Service, Typetalk (now known as UK’s Text Relay service) where he was working on a daily basis with deaf, deafened and speech impaired customers, helping them to use their Textphones and the Text Relay (formerly known as Typetalk). Additionally, Mark has delivered awareness training to many organisations in the correct way to deal with calls via the telephone network using both the Text Relay service (Typetalk) and their company Minicoms.

Cheryn Rook

Cheryn is based in Peterborough and is a highly experienced trainer, who has been working with deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind and speech impaired people for over 20 years. For nearly 17 years, Cheryn worked for the UK’s Text Relay service (formerly known as Typetalk) as an Outreach Coordinator. Cheryn specialises in communications with deafblind people and has trained many people with sensory impairment to communicate using both Braille and Text Telecommunication equipment, such as the Versabraille, Pactmate, Minicom, Screenphone and many other Textphones. She reads Braille and communicates fluently using the deafblind manual.
In recent years Cheryn has delivered Text Relay, Minicom /Textphone, Deaf, Deafblind and Disability Awareness training to a myriad of organisations, all wishing to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act.
Cheryn is a certified teacher/trainer and is a member of the Institute for Learning.

Anne Madill

Anne is based in Crumlin, Northern Ireland. She moved to the world of deafness as she started to get progressive deafness when she was 30, which turned to profound deafness 9 years ago, she now has a cochlear implant. This gives Anne a unique view and experience of the needs of deaf and deafened people. Anne was formerly employed by a local authority but most recently she has been employed as Outreach Coordinator for the UK’s Text Relay Service (formerly known as Typetalk) where she delivered Text Relay service and Textphone training to various organisations and delivered one-to-one Textphone training to individuals in their homes.
Anne has been a qualified Lipreading tutor for 12 years and runs regular classes in her home area. She is also an experienced Deaf, Deafblind and Disability Awareness trainer.

Kelvin Currie

Kelvin lives on the Isle of Wight and is a telecommunications engineer by training having worked for BT for 27 years prior to joining Typetalk (now known as UK’s Text Relay Service) as an Outreach Coordinator. The last eight years of BT employment being in the specialist area of telecommunications and disability. Kelvin uses this engineering experience to help people and organisations adapt their systems and usage of telephone equipment to meet the needs of deaf or deafened employees or customers.
In total Kelvin has many years of helping individual deaf and deafened people as well as training organisations large and small to handle calls from deaf people. Kelvin is a chartered electrical engineer and is qualified in Sign Language to stage II BSL. He is also a qualified Deaf, Deafblind and Disability Awareness trainer.
